The long awaited return of No Doubt is slowly nearing, and tomorrow we’ll be one step closer. The snippet of first single “Settle Down” will be featured in tomorrow’s webisode, as confirmed on their Facebook.
Ke$ha’s hotly-anticipated first single is rumored to debut mid-August. The singer-songwriter has been hard at work in the studio for around a year now, and most recently, she has been working alongside her go-to producer Dr. Luke, who is expected to be the major producer on the first single. Just a month ago, the hit-making producer teased fans with an unfinished snippet of Ke$ha latest work, tentatively titled “Supernatural.” Nothing is confirmed on whether or not “Supernatural” will end up as Ke-dollar sign-ha’s single.
After a big budget promotional campaign, the hit-making star’s 3D concert film managed to gross a somewhat disappointing $10.3 million during the holiday weekend. Katy Perry may have massive power when it comes to radio and iTunes, but these numbers show that people may not be as interested in Katy Perry as people believe. She’s no Justin Bieber, who’s more loved for his persona than his music. Personally, these low figures come as a sigh of relief. I wasn’t interested in seeing the “3D Concert Film” becoming just another piece of the popstar era.

She is readying a new single, produced by Max Martin (“Since U Been Gone,” “Hold It Against Me”), which is set to be released next month. According to Billboard, the song centers around the line “All I want to do is what you wanted.”

Katy Perry is refusing to slow down, revealing in an interview with USA Today that she plans on recording her fourth (I guess she counts her pre-fame Christian album) studio album in the fall. As OMFG Music revealed earlier this year, Katy Perry will not be able to work with Dr. Luke on her next album; his contract does not allow him to work with artists outside of his label (from Billboard: “Sony also locked down Dr. Luke’s production services exclusively for five years, meaning he’ll no longer be able to work with Perry or other artists outside of the Sony system.”). Will Katy be able to reconquer to pop world without the help of her trusty and reliable sidekick in 2013?
Edit: Supposedly (according to @StreetTeamCeli, who works for Capitol, “Katy can still work with [Dr. Luke]”), Dr. Luke is able to work with artists outside of his contract, so Katy may be able to reunite with Dr. Luke on her next LP. Either way, in my opinion, Katy Perry needs to remove herself from Dr. Luke and venture out into something more experimental and edgy.
